National Day of Prayer 2017

Did you know that United States President Donald Trump has announced a national day of prayer for this coming Sunday September 9 2017? I cannot tell you how many times since his election that I have given thanks to God that we finally have a genuine God fearing president; a man of character who does not bow to the pressures of an evil media who seem to get their marching orders directly from the devil himself; a man of integrity who actually cares about the ordinary law abiding citizens of this country, and wants to see us prosper.

But Donald Trump’s presidency has demonstrated just how rooted in the forces of evil have become in our nation’s government. Back in October 2009 I talked about Strongholds of evil, and pointed out that the greatest strongholds aren’t where witch doctors try to intimidate missionaries in the 3rd world, they are right here on our doorstep boasting their evil intentions from our media and seats of government. There is a powerful stronghold that, just like during the civil war, is trying to divide our country.

But the good news is that since the election of President Trump and the increasing prayers by the Christian Church for our President and our Nation, that stronghold is starting to collapse. The media is beginning to lose its voice as so many of their false stories are exposed as the lies that they are. The evil people whose roots run deep within the government cesspool are starting to whither as their crimes and corruption are publicly exposed. The representatives from all parties who got elected by false promises are now showing their true motives of greed and power, instead of public service. The devil’s house of cards within our nation is on the verge of collapse. And why is that? Because God in His mercy has given us a President who is not ashamed to pray.

But that takes me to something that has been on my mind over the past week. As I explained in my post about the Trinity, God has given us what is essentially His Strength, that is His Body, or the part of Him that connect with and has power over the physical world, by giving us the gift of the Holy Spirit. But what I have been thinking about is how a person’s spirit and soul have command over their physical body, and how God’s spirit (The Father) and His soul (The Son Jesus Christ) have command over His body (The Holy Spirit), and how the gifting of The Holy Spirit places us as representatives of Jesus into the same position that Jesus holds over The Hole Spirit.

Mark 16:17-18: “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well” (NIV).

Did you ever consider what this scripture really means? As Spirit Filled Christians we have been given permission literally to make demands of The Holy Spirit as though we are speaking for Jesus Himself, because in fact we are speaking for Jesus Himself (“In My name”). But here’s the real clincher. This gift, this ability, this authority wasn’t just given to mature long standing church leaders, it was given to all of “those who believe”. Yes I am serious. Baby new born Christians today, have the very same power of The Holy Spirit as Peter and Paul did.

  • Why would God give His full power to a new Christian? For the very same reason that a father would allow his three-year-old toddler to try to hammer a nail. The reason you give the toddler the hammer, and risk holding the nail with your own fingers while they hammer away, is because they can never learn how to do it if you don’t let them try. Our loving Heavenly Father has absolutely no reservations giving us the hammer while He holds the nail, and if we inadvertently slip and strike His finger He will not get angry with us, He will let us try again.
  • Does God really allow us to make demands of His Power? Wouldn’t doing that be presumptuous? To the contrary according to Mark 5:25-34, when a woman with a chronic issue of blood dared to approach Jesus and make demands of His power by touching His cloak, Jesus did not call it “presumption” He called it “faith”, and Jesus did not condemn the woman for her boldness, He blessed her in peace. You should understand that there are only a very few situations described in the gospels where Jesus took opportunity to commend a person’s faith, so what Jesus said here was a very big deal. “Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). How can we even claim we have faith if we are not willing to make demands of God’s power? Dare I say that Christians are actually expected to make such demands, because we represent Jesus Christ in the world today.

Now where does this conclude? Our President has called for a national day of prayer, and we are already beginning to see strongholds of the enemy faltering. Lets start exercising our faith, and make demands of the Power of God, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

James :)
