Why do we call Him MOST HIGH?
There is a song we sing that proclaims “…there is no one higher, no one greater, no one like our God…”, and every time we say it I can’t help but imagine how much it must annoy the devil…
…for in the days of his rebellion, the devil sought and failed to become like the Most High (Isaiah 14:12-15).
When it comes to kings and rulers, lords and leaders, there is only one who can own the name “Most High”:
At this time of year many hearts focus on Christ because of Christmas, but often they overlook who that little baby in the manger really is. Let me assure you, however, that the devil does not. he hates this time of year, because despite all of the distractions of shopping, and Santa Clause, and politically correct attempts to keep people from saying “Merry Christmas”, he can’t get away from all of the reminders…
2000 years ago that little baby grew up and crushed him. the devil isn’t even in the same league as Jesus. he has been conquered, knocked down, wiped out, his face dragged in the dirt, paraded through all of heaven as angels he was once in charge of mocked him and spat in his face. And every time somebody says “Merry Christmas”, or sings a Christ based Christmas Carol, or looks at a Nativity decoration, or reads the Christmas Story, the devil is confronted with everything that happened to him, and reminded yet again that it is Jesus Christ who is MOST HIGH!
Merry Christmas everyone.

Isaiah 44:6-8 -
“This is what the LORD says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God. Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and lay out before me what has happened since I established my ancient people, and what is yet to come— yes, let them foretell what will come. Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.” (NIV)

Psalm 91
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
“Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” (NIV)
Merry Christmas everyone.
