Reaction to the Parkland school mass murder

Why is it every time we see the face of evil rise up in the shooting mass murder of defenseless unarmed victims, that the arrogant political left immediately starts to demand the disarming of LAW ABIDING CITIZENS? Law abiding citizens are not the perpetrators of these horrific attacks, WE ARE THE VICTIMS! You cannot solve any of societies problems by taking away the rights and protections of the innocent.

In watching the news unfold over the last few days, I can point out some obvious problems in the way our nation is responding to these events.

1) There is a foolish focus of the right to avoid politicizing what has happened until some unidentified period of time has elapsed. We know that the left always immediately uses these situations to demand tighter gun controls, and unfortunately it takes the right far too long to get out our own message. We need to stop cowering in silence as though speaking out is disrespectful to the victims, while we allow opponents of freedom to use an evil mass murder for their political gain.

2) There is a sharp focus of the left to spotlight irrelevant aspects of the situation, to suggest problems with existing gun laws that really have no bearing on why the shooting occurred:
  • The gun was purchased legally – Had the perpetrator been barred from purchase, he could have obtained it just as easily through illegal means; stricter gun controls cannot and do not prevent perpetrators from obtaining firearms, all they do is disarm innocent law abiding citizens.
  • The perpetrator was allowed to own a gun at age 19 – Age 19 is clearly considered to be a legal adult, old enough to have a driver’s license and to vote in the United States; this was not a case of putting a gun in the hands of a child.
  • The gun was a semi-automatic weapon – Semi-automatic just means that you don’t have to re-cock the trigger before firing the next shot; this is old technology common to almost every modern firearm, it is not an unreasonable technology that shouldn’t be available to the public.
  • The gun was an “assault weapon” – The term “assault weapon” just means it is a type of gun often used by the military, it does not mean the gun has no civilian functions; almost every modern hunting rifle qualifies as an “assault weapon”, because the same weapon characteristics sought by the military are also necessary for taking down game.
3) There is a haunting silence of the Christian community to focus on the root cause behind this and all other evil attacks. The news is defining it as “Mental Health”, that we have a growing Mental Health crisis in the United States that is behind the increasing numbers of such events. But the real problem is not our Mental Health as a Nation; it is our Moral Health. As a society we simply are not raising our children to consider and make good choices between right and wrong.

The fact that these events are breaking out in our schools is somewhat ironic, but it is not really surprising since so many of us have placed the expectation on our schools to raise our children for us. The problem is that our schools have become the training ground and recruiting branch of the liberal left:
  • A number of school leaders and teacher’s unions have strong ties to liberal political parties.
  • Too many school curriculums indoctrinate our impressionable young children in liberal ideas.
  • Our public schools have essentially become labs for social experiments on gender identity, sexuality, and other liberal ideas.
  • Children are being taught that equality means being the same as everyone else, that having more talent, being smarter, or being a different race, gender or wealth class needs to be equalized. This promotes children to envy others who have something that they don’t.
  • Worst of all, too many bad teachers are protected by their unions and tenure, not able to be fired no matter what they do, and not held accountable for their performance or productivity. They earn an easy paycheck off of society, while they hide inside their classrooms completely oblivious even to bulling by their own students under their very noses.
If mass shootings are caused by a Mental Health crisis, then the first thing we need to do before we focus on stricter gun laws, is to fix the problem of our schools brooding our children to DEVELOP Mental Health problems that will eventually come back on them in a horrific attack.

What do we need to do with our schools?
1) We need to restore moral teachings of right and wrong, starting from the earliest ages and reinforced with every grade. Passing a moral aptitude test needs to be a requirement for advancement and graduation.
2) We need to stop socially experimenting with our children by treating long recognized Mental Health problems as normal, acceptable, and even desired behavior. Pretending that a problem is normal will not stop it from eventually becoming a Mental Health crisis.
3) We need to stop promoting envy among children to want to be the same as somebody else. We are all born with things we are good at, and with things we will never be good at no matter how hard we try. Children need to be taught to accept and be content with their own talents and limitations, and to also accept the talents and limitations of other people.
4) We need to terminate a large number of teachers who are not being productive in our schools, and replace them with teachers who actually care about our children.
5) We need to train our good productive teachers to pay attention to what is going on in the back of their classrooms and school yards where bullying is taking place, so that the bullying is eliminated. Most bullying doesn’t happen in the dark, it occurs in places where someone should be taking notice. If the isn’t enough adult presence to curtail all bullying on the school grounds, that is a failure of school administration and they need to be held accountable.
6) We need to tighten security at all of our schools so that entry points are limited and controlled, and so that sufficient armed professionals are present to protect our children and teachers over the entire campus.
7) We need to take up our responsibility as parents to teach our children to do right, to volunteer and help our schools wherever we can, and to pray for our children, teachers, and school officials.

What about guns and gun control needs?
1) Sensible and reasonable gun laws are a good thing and need to be promoted, but the evidence is clear from many countries, that gun laws do not prevent gun violence. Many countries where guns are tightly restricted still have a large amount of gun violence. In contrast, the countries that promote and even mandate gun ownership and training have far less gun violence.
2) Property owners and governing bodies need to be held liable for their gun restrictions. If you forbid firearms within a location then it should fall upon you to protect your visitors from evil people who might take advantage of your gun rules. It is a known fact that armed assailants consider how likely they are to encounter armed resistance when they pick a target for attack. We need to enact a federal law that requires any place where firearms are forbidden to provide sufficient trained armed guards on premises to protect the unarmed visitors, and failure to do so should be criminally and civilly liable.
3) Government and political leaders, and media sources needs to be held accountable for their brash uninformed statements and demands. There is way too much pandering to the people who use evil events as a means to promote their agenda:
  • a) The liberals are not asking for gun control because they care about life: they don’t care about unborn life when it comes to abortion; they don’t care about elderly life when it comes to euthanasia; and they don’t have a problem with assisted suicide.
  • b) The liberals are not asking for gun control because they care about protecting children: again there is abortion, which is the government sanctioned murder of children; you have their protest events which sport violence and vandalism, hate speech, profanity, inappropriate dress and even nudity, none of which are good for children; and there are CPS examples of children being taken away from good caring parents and placed in abusive and dangerous situations.
  • c) The liberals are not asking for gun control because they have evidence that it works, because actual evidence shows the complete opposite.
  • d) They are demanding gun control for one and only one reason, CONTROL.
We need to stop letting the people who want to control us have control of the narrative. These people are masters at cutting off reasonable opposing speech with their unruly behavior, so we need to counter this by eliminating their public podium, by hitting the pocketbooks of companies who advertise on media that support them, and demanding the firing of media personalities that promote them.

Luke 16:1-8 (NIV) - Jesus told his disciples:

There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions. So he called him in and asked him, “What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.”

The manager said to himself, “What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I’m not strong enough to dig, and I’m ashamed to beg— I know what I’ll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.”

So he called in each one of his master’s debtors. He asked the first, “How much do you owe my master?”

“Nine hundred gallons of olive oil,” he replied.

The manager told him, “Take your bill, sit down quickly, and make it four hundred and fifty.”

Then he asked the second, “And how much do you owe?”

“A thousand bushels of wheat,” he replied.

He told him, “Take your bill and make it eight hundred.”

The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light.

Many Christians seem to have a hard time remembering that the people of this world, and especially the liberal left are a shrewd lot who will do everything they can to achieve their agenda. Jesus warned us about what they would do, and He also told us what to do in response…

Matthew 10:16-20 (NIV)

“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”
