Are Your Miracles Common?

For this month’s post I would like to completely change your perspective…

The Bible teaches that we are citizens of a Kingdom that is not of this world:

John 18:36 - Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place." (NIV)

Ephesians 2:19-20 - Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. (NIV)

As members of God’s Kingdom, we are guaranteed certain things:

Isaiah 54:17 - "…no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD. (NIV)

Isaiah 55:1 - "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost." (NIV)

Matthew 6:33 - But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (NIV)

Mark 16:17-18 - "And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." (NIV)

Have you ever prayed for someone who was sick but they weren’t healed? Have you ever asked God for knowledge in a matter but didn’t receive clarification?

Too often we look at what we seem to be getting for our part in the Kingdom and don’t see what we were hoping for, so we become discouraged, and begin to question our beliefs, and to wonder whether God is even aware that we exist…

Let me share with you a little secret about God’s Kingdom. Did you know that in God’s Kingdom silver is used like gravel (1Kings 10:21), and gold is used like asphalt (Revelation 21:21)? When we are in the Kingdom, items that for this world would be considered our most precious commodities are strewn about for even the most miniscule things. My friends, open your eyes! God isn’t unaware of our plight. What He is giving us isn’t gravel and it isn’t road tar, it is silver and gold, and if we would only see it for what it is our attitudes would be completely different.

If you pray for a need but do not see a miracle, you should not think that God is ignoring you. Even the Apostle Paul explained that not everyone has been given the gifts of healing or miracles (1Corinthians 12:29-30), but that doesn’t mean that gifts God gives the rest of us are ANY LESS VALUABLE!

Matthew 6:25-34 -

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (NIV)

Silver as gravel, and Gold as pavement? If the most we were getting was just the stuff God throws away, we would still be the wealthiest people on earth. But God doesn’t give us His “throw aways”, He gives us His best…

James :)
