Why America Still Has A Problem With Racism

Back in 1963, in his famous “I Have a Dream” speech Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said...

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
What do we see today?

  • When a man has a history of associating with the founder of a terrorist organization we are told to ignore has character and instead see his color.
  • When a man chooses for his home church a reverend who touts racist statements we are told to ignore his character and instead see his color.
  • When a man has blood on his hands for failing to take action to protect border patrol agents and ambassadors we are told to ignore his character and instead see his color.
  • When a man ogles foreign diplomats in front of his own wife so that she has to step between them we are told to ignore his character and instead see his color.
  • When a man violates and despises the highest and most sacred laws of our land even to the point of what can legally be defined as treason, we are told to ignore his character and instead see his color.

We have turned Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream on its head. Instead of becoming the color blind society that he hoped for, we have allowed a person’s skin color to trump his character.

John 3:19-20 - This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. (NIV)
Honest -------------------- Liar
Decent ------------- Loathsome
Law Abiding ---- Law Breaking
Charitable -------------- Stingy
Kind -------------------- Mean
Compassionate ------ Heartless
Trustworthy --------- Dishonest
Hard Working ----------- Lazy
Good --------------------- Evil

Character exposes evil. That is why men and women of the world do not liked to be judged by their character. Because when you actually look at their character they cannot use their race as an excuse. Good is good, and evil is evil no matter what color of skin you have.

Don’t be a racist my friends. Follow Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s criteria for judging other people and make his dream real.

James :)
