How To Save America

It has been very sad for me as I have watched my America languish over these past several months. It hurts me deeply that the Church still continues to put her faith in politics instead of in God. “…If we can just hold out through the next election cycle, and we get this many seats in this house and that many seats in that one, then maybe we can begin to reverse the foolishness of a blind generation…” Except that all of it is vanity (Ecclesiastes).

Don’t get me wrong. I want to see the United States restored back to the glory of the shining city upon a hill as much as the next person, if not more, because I have seen where things are going if there isn’t a major change (Isaiah 6:9-14).

But let’s make one thing perfectly clear here. The only hope for the United States of America is the Church. And the only hope for the Church is to turn back to its leader, which is not the republican or conservative political parties, nor is it the pope, it is our Lord Jesus Christ.

“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV)

Even now, at this very moment, Jesus is poised at the ready, watching us closely, waiting with his hands cupped behind His ears listening for even the faintest cry for help. But we in our own arrogance continue to do our own thing is we try to help ourselves, even though we keep sliding closer and closer to the obis.

This is what the Lord says:

“Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:5-8 NIV)

God was willing to spare the city of Sodom if He would have found ten righteous people (Genesis 18:32). There are far more than ten righteous people in America. It is not too late. We haven’t gone over the edge yet. I still have hope for our nation because I have seen where God wants to take the Church. Whatever you do, don’t give up or despair, but spread the word about what we must do.

James :)
