Is God real?

The problem with western culture is that for many people, god isn’t a real entity. They attend church regularly, and act very religious pretending god is real. Yet in their mind their god is just an imagined being. Their religion is simply acting, a role playing game that they participate in and believe that everyone else is participating in the same way, because they think pretending god is real makes them a better person, and that that is the purpose of being part of a religion.

For these people, all religions are the same. Everyone makes up their own god to be whoever they want him to be. Yes the religions all have their different rituals, but that is just because that is what people who like that religion want it to be. god is not absolute. god is whatever they want him to be. If there is something about god they don’t like, it is a simple thing for them to change what they are pretending, to make god more like what they want.

The problem is, God isn’t a pretend being made up with role playing. He is a real person, with real likes and dislikes. We don’t get to choose what a real person is like. He is who He is, and we have to accept Him the way He actually is, not the way we wish He was. When God says do this, or don’t do that, we don’t get to re-define Him and take what we don’t want out of His character. We can’t call Him by a name other than His own (He isn't called allah, mohammed, buddah) and expect Him to be ok with that. We can’t look for Him at someone else’s house (He doesn't live at a muslim or hindu shrine) and expect to find Him there. We can’t not do what He tells us we must do to be saved, and expect Him to save us anyway.

Is your God real, or are you just pretending?

Snoopy, do you mean that I might be wrong about God being real?

Many years ago I did have doubts, but not anymore.

God is well able to prove to someone that He is real. Some people don't see Him because they don't ask. Other's don't see Him because they really don't want to.

God isn't hard to find if you are actually wanting to find Him.
