Why Do I Need God?

I could give any number of religious or philosophical answers to this question, but I think the best answer is a little more down to earth.

  • Gravity -You know, the force that holds your feet to the ground? Without God, it wouldn’t work.

  • Oxygen - You know, the stuff in the air that you breath that you need to live? Without God, it wouldn’t be there.

  • People - You know, the inhabitants of this planet that look kind of like you? Without God, they wouldn’t be there.

Some people think they are getting along with their lives without God, but they are only fooling themselves. You couldn’t get away from God if you wanted to, at least not in this world. But if you really want to get away from God, there is one place you can go and He is not there. It’s called hell.

Hell isn’t some torture chamber that God devised to wreak revenge on the wicked. God didn’t make hell; that is what is left when He is gone. Think about the world you live in, and imagine what it would be like if nothing worked. No light. No solid objects to hang on to. No breathable air. Nothing worked. Trust me, not even the worst dungeons you could imagine would be as bad as this. That’s what hell is. That’s what happens when God is not there.

Why do you need God? Because you don’t want to ever be anywhere without Him. You want to do everything you can to be as close to Him as possible.

James :)
