Does my earlier post mean that I am against homosexuals?
(The Problem With gay Legislation)
Do I hate them?
Do I want them to be beat up, mistreated, or killed?
Do I call them profanities behind their backs?
Do I want them to go to hell?
HEAVEN FORBID! I am opposed to the sin, not the person. Homosexuality is clearly indicated as sin in the Bible (Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:26-27, 1Timothy 1:8-11). Homosexuality is a perversion from the devil, to keep us from fulfilling God’s first command (Genesis 1:28, Why is Marriage so Important).
We are all guilty of sin (1John 1:8). The sin of homosexuality is no worse than lying, or stealing, or gluttony, or prejudices. Every sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:2), but all sins are cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ (1John 1:7).
Some people are set free from a particular sin at the moment of their salvation, so that from that point they are no longer tempted by it, while others may continue to struggle with the temptation of that sin and must rely on God’s help to resist it (James 4:7).
If you are a Christian who struggles with homosexuality or any other sin, do not despair. Continue to seek God, and ask for his help to overcome the sin that you are not able to overcome yourself. God will continue to forgive as you continue to seek him. The key is to resist the flesh, and follow after the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:1-17).
Beware, however, the all too common homosexual spirit of “pride”. “pride” is a demon of deceit to prevent you from recognizing and acknowledging before God that you are a sinner. God cannot forgive a sin that you are unwilling to confess, because you have not yet turned it over to His blood. And “pride” will eventually destroy you (Proverbs 16:18).
